Norse Log Homes Ltd.
We moved to Vancouver Island in 1985 in order to be located at the source of the world’s best supply of Douglas fir logs. We have been building log homes since 1975.
We use select West Coast-grown Douglas fir logs with a mean diameter of 11 to 12 inches mid-span and a 15-to-16-inch butt diameter. Our logs are hand peeled using the Scandinavian style of round notches and lateral groove construction. We are proud of our natural handfitted log homes, and they should not be confused with machined log homes.
We have two construction yards and three 82-foot hammerhead cranes located on a total of 6 acres. Norse Log Homes handcrafts 60 to 80 homes each year. Your project will be constructed by our highly skilled craftsmen at one of our two Vancouver Island sites; it will then be numbered, disassembled and loaded onto a truck or container for shipment to your waiting foundation anywhere in North America or around the world.
Norse Log Homes would be pleased to quote on log home package costs from your design sketches. Our package costs normally run between $18 and $36-per-square-foot depending on the amount and complexity of your log work.
We also offer a complete custom design service, which can convert your sketch into construction blueprints starting at $.79 per square foot.
