Timber Frame is the fastest growing segment in the log and timber industry, sometimes even dictated in the building codes in certain areas around the country. The use of heavy timbers in construction was first evident in eastern European architecture, making its way to the Americas with the first settlers, and then making its journey across the country as the railroad and pioneers pushed west. Blessed with vast stands of timber, the early settlers used the heavy timber in numerous projects, creating not only structurally sound structures, but with visual appeal also. Today, timber frame construction is evident in places like Jackson, Wyoming and Whitefish, Montana, as well as many other locales.
Our Timber Frame Division carries on that tradition of craftsmanship, producing hand crafted Custom Timber Trusses, Custom Timbers and Posts, as well as complete Timber Frame Home packages made to the client’s specifications. Each piece is created by hand, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, hand pegged with hardwood pegs for strength and stability. From timber accent pieces for your home, to one of a kind trusses spanning forty feet in your Great Room, there is no job too big or small for us to produce for our clients.
Each project starts with hand selected timbers, kiln dried Douglas Fir being our wood of choice, as well as reclaimed timbers being popular as well. Various finishes are available for all our timber frame projects including sanded (S4S), brushed, rough sawn, adzed, and unfinished. In house design is available for your project, or send us your custom drawn plans for a quote.
